Hangover
Shitty people doing shitty things, and insert fun location…you can never go wrong with that combination. This iconic comedy, driven via genius performances by Zach Galfinikis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms, will stay as the best comedy of this century. This might be one of the first “About One Night” movies that avoids showing the night of peril and makes taking the morning after pill extremely entertaining. Offensive jokes, mild racism, and…who gives a shit. I haven’t had a laugh like this in over a decade. Hey Todd Phillips, I loved your version of Joker with Joaquin but let’s get the ball back to the big man (Zach) and let him dominate.
Unfortunately, it’s hard in 2025 to use Vegas as a backdrop due to a mojito costing $25 for tourists without tip. But what about Chicago? Miami? New Orleans? Eh, Poughkeepsie? I can’t live in a world where Jennifer Lawrence’s “No Hard Feelings” set in Montauk is considered a “controversial, edgy comedy”. Gen Zers, please give Todd Phillips the license to do whatever he wants and let’s bury this cancel culture so that a sad man in his 30’s can have a good laugh staring at the big screen.
