Drinking Buddies
In an age when comedies are dying due to armchair academics taking the content on their screens too seriously, you can still rely on Nick Stoller, Seth Rogen, and Rose Byrne to make you laugh your fucking asses off. This trio reuniting after Neighbors have managed to carefully walk around eggshells and still deliver a rabbit out of a hat. This show comedically addresses several questions:
As the title suggests, can a man and a woman be close friends in their 40s?
Can a stale domestic life of grinding at work and packing PB&Js for kids be spiced up and how far can and should you go?
Is it better to pay the bills rather than pursuing your passion? What are the pitfalls of both?
The chemistry between the dashing Seth Rogen and beautiful Rose Byrne is dynamite; while the handsome Luke Macfarlane, returning with Stoller after Bros, is a comedic revelation by masterfully tugging along the line of hunk vs. humor. Give Platonic a binge and boycott all comedies until Stoller, Rogen, or Apatow come out with another picture!
